Cardiovascular Technology Program Admission Process

August 2015 - All Specialties
Step 1:

Submit your completed application for admission with the non-refundable $85.00 administrative processing fee and copies of your college transcripts (unofficial or official) by May 15, 2015.  Transcripts are required to come in with your application.  If turning in unofficial transcripts, please submit official copies as soon as possible.

**Please review the general education (prerequisite) requirements to make sure you are eligible to submit your application.

Step 2:

Complete your TEAS V for Allied Health preadmission testing.  All testing and results must be completed and at the College by May 15, 2015.  Please refer toAllied Health Testing page for more information on how to schedule testing and how to prepare for the test.

Step 3:

Decisions will be rendered and emailed by June 1, 2015 for the August 2015 session. 

Step 4:

Your non-refundable enrollment processing fee of $100 to reserve your seat, if accepted, will be due no later than June 15, 2015

Step 5:

ALL official transcripts are due by August 1, 2015.  If you do not provide us with official transcripts prior to the first day of class you will not be allowed to attend. 

 

January 2015 - Invasive and Non-invasive Vascular Applicants Only

Step 1:

Submit your completed application for admission with the non-refundable $85.00 administrative processing fee and copies of your college transcripts (unofficial or official) by August 31, 2014.  If you will be taking Fall 2014 courses then you must submit proof of enrollment in those courses prior to attending your interview.  Transcripts are required to come in with your application.  If turning in unofficial transcripts, please submit official copies as soon as possible.

Step 2:

Complete your TEAS V for Allied Health preadmission testing.  All testing and results must be completed and at the College by August 31, 2014.  Please refer to Allied Health Testing page for more information on how to schedule testing and how to prepare for the test.

Step 3:

You will receive notification that your application and test has been received and notification of your interview and job shadowing appointment no later than September 15, 2014.

**The TEAS V for Allied Health is no longer pass/fail.  You do need to meet certain requirements in order to move on to the interview.

Step 4:

Interviews will occur at the beginning of October 2014.  Job shadowing will occur the week after interviews.    

Step 5:

Decisions will be rendered and postmarked by October 15, 2014 for the January 2014 session. 

Step 6:

Your non-refundable enrollment processing fee of $100 to reserve your seat, if accepted, will be due no later than November 15, 2014

Step 7:

ALL official transcripts are due by the end of the Fall 2014 term.  If you do not provide us with official transcripts prior to the first day of class you will not be allowed to attend. 

Surgical Technology Program Admission Process - August 2015:

Step 1:

Additional Program Information and Requirements

  • Admission decisions are based on the basis of TEAS V for Allied Health test scores, prerequisite grades, interview, and space availability. Full admission decisions can only be determined after completion of all the prerequisite courses and preadmission testing.
  • Conditional acceptances can be given for the Cardiovascular or Surgical Technology Programs if proof of registration in final courses is provided.
  • You must complete Program specific prerequisite courses with a “C” or better prior to starting the Program, unless otherwise specified by the College.
  • Submit any remaining documentation upon the College’s request.
  • If you are applying for one of the Cardiovascular Technology or Surgical Technology Programs, a personal interview is required. You will be contacted by the College to schedule. 
  • Admission is competitive.
  • Applicants are strongly encouraged to seek admissions guidance as early as possible by attending one of the regularly scheduled College Academic Planning and Information Sessions or by contacting the College Admission Counselor at 757.388.5745 or e-mail at admissions@sentara.edu
  • Applications received after a Program has been filled will be considered for the next admission cycle.
  • Applicants should possess basic computer skills.

  • High school diploma or equivalent required and must be 18 years of age by the first day of class. 
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident of the USA.
    • The College does not currently process or maintain students on a student visa. Resident Aliens must submit a photocopy of both sides of their immigration card when applying to the School. Applicants must also comply with all other entrance requirements required by the College, including successful scores in pre-entrance examinations.
    • According to 8 CFR 214.3 Sentara College of Health Sciences is not an approved College for enrollment of F and M non-immigrants.  (Definition of a non-immigrant - a alien who seeks temporary entry into the US for a specific purpose).
  • If you have transcripts outside the USA, you must obtain a foreign transcript evaluation.
  • Take TOEFL, if required, for Programs.
  • Prospective applicants and students must demonstrate appropriate, responsible, respectful and professional behavior/conduct throughout the entire admission process and in all interactions and communications with the College.  The College reserves the right to deny admission or rescind acceptance to anyone who does not conduct themselves in this manner.
