Additional Information:

Additional General Education Course Information for Nursing:

  • Advanced Placement (AP) courses will be accepted with a score of 3 or better.
  • History Electives:  US History, Western Civilization, or World Civilization are standard history courses that are acceptable.  The College needs to review and approve other history electives for transfer credit.
  • Ethics Electives:  Medical Ethics, Bioethics, or Health Ethics are various courses that will be reviewed for transfer credit.
  • Psychology: Child Psychology or Abnormal Psychology are not acceptable courses for transfer credit in lieu of Introduction to Psychology or Developmental Psychology.
  • Principles of Public Speaking:  Course names such as Oral Communications and Speech and Communication are typically acceptable courses for transfer credit.  The College will need to do an individual review to determine transfer credit acceptance.
  • Human Anatomy & Physiology I & II:  TNCC's BIO 145, 5 credit course is not acceptable for the College's A&P I & II w/lab requirement.
  • Science General Education Courses:  Each science course must reflect a minimum of 4 credits.  A review by Nursing Admissions will occur if the science course does not reflect the credit minimum.
  • Courses are considered on a course-by-course basis instead of an hour by hour basis with regard to the content of the course.  For courses taken in quarter hours, the credits will be converted to semester hours with one quarter hour being equal to two thirds of one semester hour.
