Purpose:

The Surgical Technologist to Certified Surgical Technologist Accelerated Alternate Delivery Bridge Program (AAD) was developed to assist non-certified, currently practicing surgical technologist obtain the educational background they need to be eligible to sit for the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) National Certification Examination.

Your Learning Experience:

  • This a-synchronous Program consists of three courses.  The Program includes a clinical portfolio.
  • The Distance Education Program is taught completely on-line through the convenience of Blackboard.
  • Self-paced and can easily fit in to a full-time work schedule.
  • In order to complete the Program within the one year required period of time, students must successfully complete each course within four months consecutively.
  • Students who successfully complete the Program will be awarded a Diploma in Surgical Technology and be eligible to sit for the NBSTSA certification exam.

 

Qualifications to Apply:

Surgical technologists interested in this Program must fit into one of three groups as follows:

  • On-the-job trained surgical technologists who completed training before March 1, 2000 OR
  • Formally trained surgical technologists who completed their education from a non-accredited program in surgical technology OR
  • Formally trained surgical technologists who completed a military program AND
  • Can document 120 surgical cases within the last two years.   

 

Application & Admission Process:

  • In order to be eligible to apply, you must:

    1.  Meet one of the requirements in the groups above

    2.  Have a high school diploma, GED or home school verfication

    3.  Completed college level Anatomy and Physiology I w/out lab at an accreditted institution; An  official transcript of the college level course must be submitted with application.
